CONCEPTUALIZATION
A structure having the ability to twists under pure compression loading. The bottom is fixed and the top surface is given pure compressive displacement. Software used here is Ansys Workbench.
CONCEPTUALIZATION
After grinding Solidworks and Ansys everyday for hours and hours, I was able to decode the trick and in this design opposite halves are twisting in opposite direction (yeah, it's a single piece!)
QUALITATIVE VALIDATION
This is small 3D printed prototype (only 1 inch high) under Universal Testing Machine. The UTM is hydraulic from ShoreWestern company. Material is Tango-Black from Stratasys. The 3D printer is Stratasys Objet. The prototype is lying on the thrust bearing to give freedom of rotation. Almost 90 degree of rotation can be observed.
QUALITATIVE VALIDATION
The exactly the same process and material as above but with different dimension.
QUANTITATIVE TESTING
This metal-structure (4 inch high) was 3D printed using Vero-White material and tested on Instron Universal Testing Machine. Digital Image Correlation was done using GOM open source software for the strain measurement.

The first plot shown below is Force vs. Displacement at the top surface of the specimen. The second plot shows the amount of twist happening at top and the bottom halves.

PROPERTY EVALUATION
Digital Image Correlation of uni-axial tensile test of dog-bone specimen (standard ASTM d638) to determine material property for the Finite Element Analysis purpose.
